What is PumpkinFest?
For over twelve years, the Pumpkins for the Planet initiative has been a neighbourhood staple, and PumpkinFest is its vibrant, community-powered party. Building on the success of last year’s collaborative “Fun Day,” local organizations like OSEAN (Ottawa South Eco-Action Network), the Brookfield Community Food Cupboard (BCFC), and the Riverside Park Community Association (RPCA) are back together to make this year bigger and better than ever!
It’s a chance to connect with your neighbours, have a blast, and make a real difference in our community.
How You Can Participate: Donate, Recycle, and Celebrate!
PumpkinFest is all about turning post-Halloween pumpkins into positive action.
Here’s how you can be a part of it:
- Support a Great Cause: Please bring a non-perishable food donation or a cash contribution.
All donations will support the incredible work of the Brookfield Community Food Cupboard, OSEAN, and other local groups tackling food insecurity in our neighbourhood. Every little bit helps!
- Recycle Your Pumpkin: Bring your Halloween pumpkin with you! We’ll have rows ready for our great pumpkin parade, and we ensure every gourd is put to the best possible use.
Fun for the Whole Family!
This is so much more than just pumpkin recycling, it’s a full-blown community festival!
Get ready for:
- Pump Truck Tour: Kids (and kids-at-heart) can enjoy tours of the fire truck!
- Hay Bale Labyrinth: Get lost in a fun, seasonal maze.
- Crafts & Face Painting: Let creativity run wild with seasonal crafts and fabulous face painting.
- Sweet Treats & Snacks: Warm up with a hot beverage and enjoy delicious “pumpkin bites” prepared by our friends at the Caldwell Family Centre.
